In January I posted on some
of my favorite kitchens.
I also promised that I would share the
before and after
photos of our kitchen
after having found pictures
that were taken during
the renovation process in 2009.
Seems like only yesterday.
Plaster buckets, plastic sheeting,
sawdust piles and a new black lab puppy
running through where she wasn't
supposed to be and getting in the way.
So that's the before and after.
Thanks for stopping by
and next time,
I'll serve you a cup of tea.
Come back again soon, won't you?
:)

Your kitchen is stunning. I absolutely adore your style. Hugs, Marty
Alison, it is so fun to see the 'before' pictures of your kitchen; and what a beautiful 'after'! Your kitchen has always been one of my absolute favorites! Happy Spring to you!
Absolutely gorgeous! Love your flooring and round screen door and your large window, and the long counter top and your two lamps on either side and the detail on the back of your chairs, and.....gosh, I could go on and on. No wonder you are a designer. Now I'm curious. Since you have lived with it for several years, what would you have done different?
Your kitchen is beautiful! I love the windows over the sink....
love your kitchen and it was fun to see the construction stage!

And it is still my favorite kitchen in blog land!
Oh wow... where do I begin. The windows over the sink... the built in hutch...the table and chairs.. Luv it all!
A truly gorgeous kitchen Alyson, I totaly love all you did, the plan and the decoration and attention to detail to follow the equeatrian theme of your gorgeous home too! The table and chairs are lovely too. Beautiful!
Hugs,

PS: We rebuilt our kitchen totally... just like you did in 2009 too!

Responding to Connie:
YES! There is something I would do differently -- the FLOORING.
I wanted to put in wide wood plank floors, that was the plan. BUT -- when the old terra cotta tiles were jack-hammered and hauled away, there were signs that moisture had come up through the cement slab that was poured over the barn floor when the home was converted.
The wood flooring contractor told me he "strongly recommended" installing teak (instead of what I had selected) for the floors. It resists mold and mildew and wood rot.
I regretfully went with this plan and have regretted it ever since.
The finish is too new.
Sorry I did not follow my gut on this. The floors are easy to care for and are holding up well with two big dogs, but I love the look of old wood flooring.
THAT is my main regret.... oh, and I am in search of a lantern for above the kitchen table. The one there now was just a fill-in .... still there almost 5 years later!!!
Alison :)
Loved seeing the before and gorgeous after Alison!! Your kitchen is a favorite of mine!!
Alison... What perfect timing you have! We are on week 2 of living without a kitchen and we have 2 weeks ahead of us. Your kitchen is gorgeous - so warm and full of charm. You proved to me there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Truly elegant and I love the Light Fixture- Holly Hunt? I love the timeless choice of cabinet style and backsplash, simply Classic!
Alison,
I love your kitchen. I had no idea it was so new (relatively). What a huge before and after. The English piece with the clock in the top is one of my favorites you've shared. I also love the piece you use for your island.
Great post.
Karen

Beautiful kitchen!!! I've always thought so :^)
Is there any way you could share the wall color? I have yellow curtains and think your color might be a good choice, or at least steer me in some definable direction ;^)
Blessings to you,
J
I am searching for a bamboo shade like the one over your sink, I need a wide one for the double windows over my claw foot tub... got any hints on where to find one like yours?

Hi Alyson, what an absolutely stunning kitchen. I'm just stopping by to say how delightful your blog is. Thanks so much for sharing. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. I have been having trouble with GFC and if I am already following you, and you following me, please forgive me. If not, please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris

Nothing short of absolutely incredible ... you didn't leave one detail out, and I love seeing the before and after pictures! Your kitchen is truly one of my FAVORITES. You need to write a book about your home with lots of before and after pics ... it would be a best seller!
Gorgeous!
