Tole Tales

Pinterest

Tole trays always remind me
of my mother.

(She is a tole painter, if you remember.)

Garage sale find from this week.

When see a nicely hand-painted one
I just can't pass it up.

This navy blue one was next to the gold one above when I found it.

Here are several similar ones hung as a large piece of art.... clever! (Pinterest)

I used to have several of them
hanging in my old kitchen.
Still have a few,
but have sold the others.

Love the mixture of shapes on this wall collection. (Pinterest)

Little black one that I have had forever.

I am selling this very, very old crackeld wooden tray table and iron stand on Ebay right now, in case you are interested!?!

Do you have any
old painted tole trays
that you decorate with?

I love Tole trays! I think they are so beautiful and a nice touch to anyones decor. My favorite photos is the kitchen with the silver trays hanging on the wall!

Have a great day. Elizabeth

Tole trays are classic. I like it when I find an unusual color or shape. Unfortunately, some of my favorite finds I've sold. I had an oversize one I still think about. Oh Well, nature of the business. I love that last piece.

About 7 years ago, I was really into tole, and I purchased 3 trays. (I know, quite the collector, aren't I?) I really, really wanted a tray table like yours, but instead I got a faux one from Bombay Co. I still have the tole scattered around the house. I think it's timeless.

Alison,
I love tole trays! Funny how I could pick out the pics from you house from the pininterest ones :) I didn't know you were an ebay seller. I had forgotten you are in the Chicago area, too. Send me an email and let me know where? I have family in the area, too.

Love the trays, but never seem to find any?

Tole trays are so beautiful but one needs the space to display them and I don't have many walls for them. I do have one on my counter top backsplash and a huge heavy antique one in our family room. It may have been a tray table (no legs or base now) as it's too large to hang! I must post it sometime. Remember the pretty flowered tole t.v. trays of the 60's and 70's?

I do love tole trays. I have been wanting one of those tray tables for my sitting room, but will wait till I find one at a steal. Yours is quite nice though. I'm not positive I am going to go that route. I just know I am tired of the cheetah ottoman and looking for something else.

i've never collected them but have admired them and grew up with some. my taste has evolved through the years. i love the mix of old and new but have been less drawn to traditional. i wouldn't be surprised if i am completely a modern freak within a few yrs!

I love Tole trays - I don't know why I don't own any because I like the way they add such character to a space! Enjoy your day!

I have an addiction myself...I just bought one off of ebay two nights ago, a turquoise one. I found one that was turquoise in a barn and sold it in my Etsy shop, as I wasn't in love with it, but my new one~yes love! I showed some tole trays last week in a post, and I have them in my kitchen as well. I sell them on esty too! I love that tray table of yours...and it it were antique green I would be bidding right now!

I love Tole trays, but the only one I own was done by my Grandmother. It's not very fancy, just a wood and wicker tray with poinsettias for Christmas.

Yours are fabulous.

Alison, I've long admired tole trays. I started a grouping of them many years ago, but found I really didn't have a good spot for them. I gave them to a young friend who was recently married and wanted to begin a collection of her own. Fun to see yours, and I love the one on the stand as a table. Wish I had a spot for it.

I too have always loved toile trays. I wish I could find some that are priced nicely. The really nice ones can get so pricey I've found. If you saw my posts on The Lake House I have one my mom made back in the late 40's hanging above my kitchen sink (it is actually one of 2). Lovely post. Thanks Alison.

Oh. I love that tray with the red roses on it!! Yes, I do have a lovely tray. It looks Indian looking, and Nel liked it so much, that I gave it to her. She now puts her necklaces on it. Your tray selection is wonderful.

I adore your posts and I just love this one on TRAYS. Great job and great inspiration.

I love trays of all kinds and recently did a post on TRAYS. I used to have quite a few of the tole trays and sold them in my shop. Why did I do that!?

What neat inspiration for these trays. I do have a few myself, in fact I have them packed up somewhere. I may have to get some out. Have a great day!

Love tole trays, and I love the more casually displayed ones. Leaning behind a tabletop vignette is a fave look for me, because it looks like it might be grabbed and used. The tray table you're selling is beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

Love, love, love your tole trays. Your new finds are treasures. I've always loved the look of them, too, but do not have any.

I love your home and your taste. Thank you for posting all the lovely photos. I have several old tole trays. What is the proper way to treat areas that are chipping? Is it okay to stabilize with something like Renaissance Wax or should I just leave as is? Thanks in advance for your advice.
Best regards, Ruth
