Welcome to The Polohouse

Welcome to the third featured home on
A Bowl Full of Lemon's Parade of Homes Tour
this week!

Come inside, no need to knock. We've been waiting for you.

This is the front entry. Our house is an old polo barn and stables that were built in 1939 and then converted into a single family home in the late 1970's.

This is a small sitting area outside of our powder room.

This is looking in to the powder room from the sitting area.

This is the tack room.

View of trophy case outside of the tack room.
This is the living room and the dining room combined.

Living room shot looking down from the hayloft.

The two-story window was the spot of the original main barn doors.

This is the newly remodeled kitchen which is where one side of the horse stalls used to be.

Looking down the hall from the family room.

This is the playroom or game room where our teens hang out.

This is the red guest bedroom.

This is the quirky master bath, full of angled ceilings and dormers!

Bathroom shelving as seen from the hallway looking in.

(Pay no attention to the tilted lampshade! Oops.)

Sneak peak at the master bedroom which hasn't been posted yet!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
Please come back often as things are always
changing and getting redecorated around here.
And .... if you become a follower,
let me know in a comment
---- I would love to follow you back.

Your home is beautiful! It looks exactly like I would expect a sophistocated polo house to look like. I so enjoyed all the equestrian touches.

Very fun, Alison! I hope I get to view all the home tours at some point. Your home is just beatiful. I wish I could just pinpoint one or two things that stand out, but I love it all!

Your home is incredible ... I could visit for hours !! Are you accepting reservations for the red guest room, by chance? :)

The trophy case looks like something straight out of a museum ...

Thanks for sharing !!

Alison... I think you already know that I love your house! Now after taking the house tour, I've got questions for you. What kind of floors did you use in your kitchen? How do you like them? (We're in the market for new hardwoods). Where did you find your aubusson pillows and where do you get all those fabulous lamps?

Oh, and I'm totally jealous of your entry floors. Are those terra cotta bricks and are they original to the home? That is what I wanted for our mudroom, but couldn't find them.

I'll stop drilling you now. Everything looks so beautiful, comfortable and cozy. My favorite kind of home!

Dear Alison,

First off, I loved being greeted by Rascal Flatts. Love them.

Your house is beautiful.

My favorite room is your bathroom..the glass shelf, and then the color, pictures and small silver candle holders surrounding the crisp white bath tub.

I get the impression that you have surrounded yourself with all the things that you love and treasure.

You have been blessed.

Thank you for sharing your home.

Have a lovely day!

Alison your home is amazing! I can't believe all the work you have put into it and that it used to be a barn. I love it! I just started a blog featuring paint colors and was wondering if you knew the colors in your home. I would love to feature some of your rooms. Also what part of Illinois are you from? I live there too. :) Let me know, but once again, beautiful beautiful home!
