Let's talk about painted dressers.
With my antique business
we are always selling dressers,
nightstands, desks,
and chests of drawers.
Many pieces
have great lines and strong bones,
but the old wood stains and finishes
are scratched or marked
so they must be painted.
(Refinishing and stripping is too costly.)
With that being said,
may I ask you to weigh in
and look at these choices
and could you kindly tell me
if you had to buy a dresser
for a room in your home today
would you consider
a painted one ---
and if so,
what is the color
YOU would choose?

Here is a gray one from Overstock.com |
Off white or ivory is always an option -- via |
Does Robin's Egg blue do if for you? via |
Lovely white one from here |
Black dressers are handsome. This one via |
So would you pick:
taupe
ivory
black
robin's egg blue
white
or gray?
Or is there another shade
that I have not offered to you?
PLEASE let me know what you would buy!
It will help me the next time I run
to buy a quart of paint
to bring new life to an oldie but goodie.
Thanks in advance for your input!

Alison, I love the gray finish; however am considering a sideboard in the ivory to brighten the space it would go in!

I love painted pieces and would probably pick white or taupe. I drooled over Restoration Hardware's beds all weekend and would go with any of their colors, but especially like their taupe ones.
Ivory or black would be my choices.....but......Ralph Lauren makes a metallic paint called "Champagne" that is absolutely beautiful and looks like a million dollars in a room!!
All of your pictures are beautiful, and I will go and check out the last one!
Be blessed,
J
I love the Taupe because it reminds me of a French gray that has been aged!
I would do ivory or robin egg blue. I am in the minority, but I do not like gray, at all.
Robin's Egg Blue or Ivory for me. The blue wouldn't match anything in my home but I just love it. :)
today I would pick the blue...tomorrow something different...they are all lovely colors!
Black, for sure. I do like the robin egg blue one too. But black seems to blend better with my overall decor.
All are pretty.
xo,
Karen
I too would go with black. I think it is a very classic choice.
