It seems the first day of each month
arrives sooner and sooner lately!
How does that happen!?!
(Or is it just me?)
It is still the first and I know I am late
in posting this edition of the linky party,
but I was on an "adventure" this past weekend
as some of you already know and I am still behind
in my chores and my "things to do list"!
(Will explain more about this at the end of this post*)
But I am very anxious
to show a few more things
that might be fun to give
for the holidays.
Hand-made kringles from Oh! Danish Bakery.... perfect for everyone on your list. I recommend the almond or pecan ones. Go to ohdanishbakery.com |
Keep someone cuddly and warm with new tartan throws 56" x 78" in 38 different plaids from TheScottishWeaver.com |
Find the perfect plaid flask in one of many Scottish tartan patterns at eFlasks.com You can have them monogrammed too. |
How about a dozen of these Delft-tile designed shortbread cookies from StoneHouseOven on Etsy? Link here Each a work of art! |
Darling gingerbread house from RedEnvelope.com |
OK, and before you all link,
I will tell you about the weekend
"adventure."
My daughter and I went to NYC
this past weekend on a planned trip.
I was going to go into all the details
and how it took us four days to get home,
but I am not even going to go there.
We are safe and we made it home ---
to our house, which is intact and has electricity.
It was an inconvenience, but an adventure and
we are safe and fortunate.
Cannot stop thinking
about those who have been
affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Please pray for these people
and do or give what you can
to help them.
God bless those
whose lives will never
ever
be the same.
Sorry to end my post
on such a sullen note!
Please link your holiday gift-giving ideas below.
Hug your loved ones
and know that life can change
in an instant.
Make every day and every moment count.

Alison,
So glad you and your daughter are safe. So much to be thankful for.

Alison, glad that you and your daughter are safe! I know that it truly had to be an adventure! I am praying for everyone affected. Thanks for taking the time to host your party...I love anything by Jo Malone!
I am glad you are okay. My heart is heavy for those who have lost so much.
If money was no object I would go door to door and spay and neuter all the cats and dogs in attempt to stem the relentless tide of abused, abandoned and suffering animals.
xoxo

If money weren't an issue, I would buy all my family houses right together in a compound. It's hard to be far from the grandkids!
Wow! Glad you're home safe & sound after your "brush" with Sandy!
I like the precious/unique gifts you've pictured - 'specially the Delft-tile cookies (and of course ANYthing plaid).
Re. the "money-no-issue" question - I like the family compound idea :)
I was thinking in a similar vein - a perfect lake cottage/retreat with enough spare bedrooms to house our extended family. I would want to live there year 'round in the lower level and be able to close up the extra rooms until necessary.....
I am so glad you and your dd are safe. We have a sister on Long Island and they still do not have power-there is so much damage all around them. What a tragedy- xo Diana
Alison,
Talk about an adventure. I'm happy to hear you and your daughter are home safe and sound. You are right, it's so sad to see the devastation and the idea of being without power as the days get colder breaks my heart for NY and NJ folks.
Karen
What an adventure you and your daughter had. I am glad to know that you are at home safe! Having lived in NYC and still having many friends in the area, I cannot stop thinking of the tragedy that has affected so many there. Your gift selections are so wonderful. All the kinds of gifts I love. Have a happy weekend my dear friend.
Big Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
So glad you and your daughter are safe and sound!!!! If money were not an issue, I would love to buy my son the home of his dreams and enough meds to keep him well for MANY years. For my daughter: Whatever she would want/need in her new house. What a dream that is!! XO, Pinky
Alison,
I'm so happy to hear you and your daughter are home safely. I'm sure it was not the "adventure" you planned. The pictures show just how devastating the storm was and my thoughts and prayers continue for those affected.
Blessings,
Emily

Alison, I'm glad you got to and from NYC safely. Such a terrible storm. I am going there in 2 weeks so I hope things are more settled by then. In answer to your question I would give my family out west free travel by air any time they want to come home. Enjoy the weekend. Blessings, Pamela

What great gift ideas! Hope I'm on your Christmas list! Hee-hee!
So thankful you had a safe trip as well.
If money were no issue: I like what someone said about building all the kids houses close to us - I miss our grandchildren too!!
