Derby Party for Kids

This is the casual
dining table just off
the kitchen in the home
tour house we staged
on Thursday.

We set up the dining room
for adults but wanted to also
have a fun casual derby setting
where their grand-kids might
enjoy the fun!

Jenn found an old vintage
horse race game and we
used it as the centerpiece
on the table.

We had to tag the edibles that day for "For display only".
The last time we staged for a home tour, we didn't do this and the guests
ate all of our desserts on display!

We added a folk art wooden horse race to the mantel.

And that's it for the three
rooms we staged for the day.
Too bad there wasn't an actual party
in this lovely home!
Would have been fun.

Did you get to watch
the 138th Run for the Roses
at Churchill Downs this afternoon?
 We had pre-prom festivities here
this afternoon so I did not even get
to watch the event!
Good thing we
taped it. :)

Enjoy your weekend.

How cute! I think those old games just steal the whole "show". They are so much fun...and I can only imagine the joy that those kids would feel being a part of it all. xo Diana

This is soooo cute. I did catch the end of the derby after working in the yard all day.

YES!! We did watch the Derby and thought it was a GREAT race! No party though, I was packing while Joe was painting. The kids area was done perfectly too. Loved the game and horses on the mantle. XO, Pinky

That area is perfect for the kids...the vintage games and folk art added such great interest and I am sure those who toured the home were fascinated by all "things Derby"...

I have truly enjoyed seeing the beautiful project that you have worked so extremely hard to make it a most enjoyable and memorable event and showcase...!!

Alison,
The kids dining area looks great. I had to laugh when you mentioned you had to mark the desserts "for display only"! :-) the plate stand is really great and those ARE my favorite cookies!

Awesome party for the Derby! The vintage stuff is fabulous, wow, along with the cookies and all. When I first saw it, it reminded me of a 50's party for kids. Fabulous! Hugs,
