Hey honey.... bee still my heart.

Hey honey....
look what came
in the post this week!

Some lucious local
gooey golden goodness
 from sweet Anne Marie's
 well-trained bees
We are so excited to try it
and personally, I am looking forward
to the local honey allergy fighting
qualities everyone is talking about!

Read about those here.

So what do you make with honey?
Do you put it in your hot tea,
or in yogurt or on granola?
Maybe as a topping for your bisquit or toast?
Hmmmm. What to do......?

I think I found the perfect recipe for a hot summer day with a fresh batch of honey.

Greek Spiced Orange and Honey Sorbet*
3 cups water
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup clover honey
2 tablespoons finely grated orange peel
1 tablespoon chopped peeled fresh ginger
2 whole star anise or cardamom pods
2 whole cloves
1 small bay leaf, preferably fresh
2 cups chilled fresh orange juice
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Combine first 8 ingredients in heavy large saucepan. Bring to boil over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Boil until syrup is thick and mixture is reduced to 2 cups, about 12 minutes. Discard bay leaf; cool syrup.

Strain syrup into medium bowl. Add orange juice and lemon juice. Transfer to ice cream maker and process according to manufacturer's instructions. Transfer sorbet to container, cover, and freeze until firm, at least 6 hours and up to 3 days.

That sorbet looks delish and perfect for the remainder of the hot summer days!

I use honey in my greek yogurt and on peanut butter. I'm not a big fan of peanut butter unless it's mixed with chocolate, yet I find it a lot more tolerable with a little honey drizzled over it.

My kids are peanut butter & honey fiends, and sometimes just honey bread fiends. I like my honey in hot water with a squeeze of lemon ( a big squeeze) and a few slices of fresh ginger. I live on it in the Winter!
