Hello Sunshine

Spring is finally here at the polohouse!
(I think.)

This is our old horse sign with the barren trees
in the background taken at sunset in March.

And this is the sign as of last week when the magnolia tree was blooming!

What a difference a month makes,
you know?

It's still a little too chilly
to plant the annuals right now,
but I couldn't wait to get just a little color
on the front door, and in the urns.

These pansies are pretty tough, in case a little chill blows in again.

Seeing the grass come in makes me so happy!
It's that bright,
almost electric green out in the yard right now....
and for now,
that's good enough for me.

I'll just have to practice patience
and just wait a little longer
for the
color.

So glad your getting some pretty weather. We are way on up in the 80's with this nice Mississippi humidity. Trying really hard right now to get the pool because that is my form of relief in the summer time.
I am not complaining, I love it! Have a great week.

Oops, I meant to say "get the pool ready", because that is my form of relief. Sorry.

Alison, the blooms look gorgeous. What a dramatic backdrop for the old horse sign. Funny, here in TX we are already having temps in the upper 90s so the annuals that have been providing us color for two months now are feeling stressed. Time to move on to something that can take the summer heat. Guess it's back to the garden center soon. Hopefully zinnias will take us through the summer.
The flower filled basket on the door is lovely. Just a hint of the color you'll soon enjoy. ~ sarah

hi Alison, Love the colors in your front door arrangement, and the way your keeping with your theme in the basket. Love the pansies, they keep a little color while the roller coaster temperatures of spring settle into warmer days. Enjoyed the photographs of your home. Hope your week is great..........

So pretty! Love the pic of the blooms behind your horse! We finally started putting some plants in the ground. Fingers crossed we've had the last frost. Can't wait to see the rest of your garden in full bloom. Thanks for sharing.

I was amazed how green the grass got this past week up here. You are about the same as us this week which surprises me as you are usually at least a week ahead of us. It's been so cold and rainy here. I love your colourful flower basket on the front door. Soon there will be lots of colour :-)

You have a pretty yard! We just put new mulch, ferns and a new wreath! Oh, and a new porch. The old one was falling apart!

You've made your outdoor area so beautiful!!! What is that behind your porch swing - a dogwood tree or a bradford pear?? I get those mixed up for some reason. :o)

Your yard is lovely, Alison. It's been warming into the 70s here, so it shouldn't be much longer for you :)

Alison, your sign looks so pretty not only against the barren brances, but amidst the magnolia blossoms too. I was over at Marcy's blog this week, not sure if you saw her "Polo House" inspired antique horse sign, but it's just wonderful, think you'll enjoy her post if you havn't already, xxx tami

We were having great weather, but had a storm over the weekend and lost our power. My body didn't know how to handle the cold after a few weeks of warmth. Enjoy your sunshine.

Lovely post with true hints of spring. We were exactly as you until Sunday when we had unseasonable weather..97* unheard of in the midwest for May.

Loved your pictures and yes, count me in as one who would love to sit and swing with you. So peaceful looking.
