My dear friend Kathy
left me a voicemail one day
to tell me that she had
a home remedy to share
found on Pinterest
that really worked.
She thought that I might have a need
for this information.
Fate!
Yes, I did really need this helpful hint
for my home and my client's house too ...
for our
kitchen table tops.
Shot of pedestal table before hutch was found that stands behind it. |
We've had white heat stains
on our antique parquet top
English oak kitchen table for MONTHS.
This simple remedy gets them to disappear.
The white marks shown here
were left by a hot cardboard pizza box.
(They "look" like white paint fingerprints,
but they are not!)
I never thought to put placemats or trivets
under the boxes because it is rare
when a pizza actually arrives here HOT.
I tried rubbing the spots out,
warm soap and water, even lemon oil
but nothing worked.
But apparently,
all you need to remove this stain
is a
hairdryer.
Who knew?
Just turn it on
using the warmest heat setting,
aim it at the spot keeping nozzle edge
2-4 inches above
and wait a few minutes.
It disappears right before
your eyes.
Check it out!
(A second spot below)
Gone! |
So if you have a
white heat spot or ring
on your wood surface,
try this home remedy
found on Pinterest
here
and watch your hairdryer
remove it
like magic!
Awesome.
Thanks Kathy!
Gotta love Pinterest.
Never know what you will find there.

Huh....never heard of that. We bought a china cabinet once that had white marks all over the wood, and someone told us to use toothpaste. Worked like a charm!!

This is a good thing to know. I have numerous calls from clients asking me what to do. I have always used tooth paste., but has to be done as soon as it happens. Life safer number 1023, Richard from My old historic House.

This is GREAT!!! Now, I want to know where you got that FABULOUS leopard print hair dryer!!!!!!!!!!! It would be PERFECT in our bathroom!!! I might even be able to keep it out:):) XO, Pinky
The link doesn't work to Pinterest. It takes you to a thing by Bob Villa!!!!:):)
WHO KNEW!?!?!! I love the idea-thanks I think that is a wonderful remedy- xo Diana
i had two bad white water rings on my sideboard in our dining room a couple of years ago...i did some research and found you could make a paste with ashes (we used some from our fireplace) and water...just a little water...not too much. i rubbed on the ash paste with a soft cloth and they just disappeared! then wipe the paste off with a dry soft cloth...i couldn't believe how well it worked and they never reappeared!
Thanks so much for sharing this tip...I'm off to try this on my dining room table!
THAT IS AMAZING!!!! Thanks for the tip. Just sent your link to my "non-blogging" friends... Have a wonderful weekend. I will be spreading the good tip all weekend!
Would that work on my age spots on my face???
Huh??!! Who knew. I will have to commit this one to memory. I was told to use an iron, with steam... DID NOT WORK!!! Do NOT try this at home. Thanks for sharing.
Hugs, Gee
Not that I am wishing for a wood stain, but I can't wait to try this out!
Thank you for the tip! I have a table I'm going to try this on. I wonder if it could help a black lacquer table top? I've tried everything. Now I just throw an old oriental rug on it :(
Alison, thanks for sharing this great tip. I'm going to try it on a white ring from a glass. Will let you know if it works for that too. Fingers crossed. '-)
Now I want to know what kind of hairdryer you have? I love the tortoise nozzle.
Wishing you a very Happy Easter Weekend.......Sarah
