Blues in the Kitchen

My mom recently gave me
two big boxes
of blue dishes
she had gotten at an
auction last summer.

I put them in my garage
and I sort of forgot about them
until this week.

I brought them in and unloaded everything
and decided to use them and mix them
with other blue pieces I already had.

Some of the pieces were mixed in here.

Normally I add fresh flowers
for a winter "pick me up"
but I've had a virus this week
so I haven't been out shopping.

Then other pieces ended up here.

The dishes remind me of my dear grandmother.
She loved Blue Willow.
(I once wrote a post about it. Link)

Some of them ended up
on the kitchen table too.

Thanks for coming by today. The blue and YOU
just made my day brighter!

Alison, sorry to hear you've had a virus. Hope you are feeling better.
Your mom found some gorgeous pieces. I really like the tea caddies and that tea pot. My collection of blue and white is very small, but am happy to say that a couple of new pieces found me recently. I was the lucky winner of the two flower bricks from Marlis and also found a few blue and white finds in the thrift store last week. A blue and white post is definitely in my immediate future. '-)

Alison in love with every single everything.....don't you love the blue and white against the dark woods? So rich and elegant, you have done a magnificent job displaying everything there and it looks like it was always meant to be there!! Beautiful job.....

Oh what beautiful pieces she found. Ypu have showcased them so well... against the dark bookcase.
I have a very dear spot in my heart for blue willow. Like yours, my grandmother luved blue willow... I remember eating many meals on those as a small child. She passed away when I was 10 and I never looked at blue transferware the same again. It always caused me pain. That is until lately when I have been longing for some to be able to use and remember fond memories... luving times. Haven't had the pleasure of acquiring any yet. But my quest continues .
Cheers, Gee

Oh, Alison, I had that virus 2 weeks ago. I spent all week in my jammies. I told Dan I was like an old dog, all I did was eat and sleep! Hope you are better soon. I love blue and white, too and that pop of yellow!

Love Blue Willow. We have a set that came from my in-laws' lake cottage. It came with the cottage, but when they sold it, I wouldn't let my mother-in-law let the dishes go. We brought them to our house, where we get them out once in a while to enjoy.

My heart is fluttering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a wonderful gift!!! You know how I LOVE blue and white, and I also love it against dark wood!!!! Just between you and me, I am getting tired of seeing all WHITE everywhere. Rooms, walls, furniture, you name it. This is so refreshing. XO, Pinky PS, no offense to anyone who loves the white look, it just isn't me:)

Hi! ... Pinterest brought me here, really nice site. The photos of the table caught my eye, and I'm wondering if you have any information on the table runner you used? Looks like a trail of leaves ... its mesmerizing! Is it homemade, store bought, anything really. Thanks
