My Old Wooden Heart

This is my favorite piece
in my Valentine collection.

Totally worthy of its own post!

I cannot even remember
where I got it or when
but it is so sweet,
made with tender loving care.

The heart is cut from a thin wooden board.
It is almost 12" tall  though my photos
make it look much smaller.
It is crudely painted and has
a black and white photo glued on it.

The photo shows two young girls on bikes.
Maybe they are sisters?
Best friends?

I don't know....
but I do know,
that one of them
was named
"Hellen."

Signed on the back.

Though this sweet heart may be wooden ---
it always makes my heart
turn to mush.

;)

Love it.

My Valentines.... my family, will be having this Buckeye Cake for dessert! Link here for the recipe!

Happy Valentine's Day!
May this love-filled day
bring you
 sweet surprises too.

The cake looks fantastic. I still have some baking to do, a little late in the game but I am craving something sweet. I wonder why!

I hope you have a great Valentine Day today. That is certainly a unique wooden heart decoration. I'm sure it meant something special to the recipient years ago. That cake sure does look good!

Another perfect example why vintage is better. The back story to the heart surely must be a sweet one.

When you discover such a piece, you wonder...who were they?..what became of them?...Then you wonder..where will my special treasures be in say 100 years from now..i am hoping that there will be someone, like you, who discovers it...would cherish it as much as I...

You are right..that piece deserved its own post!

Happy Valentine's Day...

Alison, I'm back to visit this one again. I love the little vignette you created with this one, but wish we could see more of it. Your little alphabet block with the red horse, the spool of thread, those wonderful heart pieces ~ please show us more! ~ Sarah
