Summertime

It's finally starting to feel and look like summer!

We've had such an unseasonably cold spring,
so many of our perennials and annuals
are not nearly as far along
as they normally are in the gardens.

The previous owners had
 beautiful hot pink carpet roses
added to the landscaping around the yard,
so each year we plant annuals in pinks
and purples to coordinate with the roses.

The yard looks so much better
when they are blooming,

but that will have to wait
for another post in July!

Thanks for stopping by today!
Wish you could sit and have some pink lemonade
with me on the patio.

What colors are the flowers growing
in your garden this summer?

Love the mix of black and pink, and the different patterns! Our deck planters this year are a mix of reds and pinks. And up where the deer and bunnies don't roam!

Your patio and all of your yard looks so pretty. I can't wait to see what it looks like when the roses are blooming. I love pink in the garden too.

Alison, your grounds look lush. I would love to spend time on your terrace, pink lemonade or not. I'll be eager to see all the pinks and purples blooming. Here at HFTS, red knock out roses would greet you as you pulled into the circle drive and pots of red geraniums are at the door. You'll find golden thryallis, yellow bells, black-eyed Susans, pink coneflowers, white snapdragons, and white geraniums blooming at the moment, but with high temps and lack of rain things are looking stressed. Your lush greens look inviting so refreshing. ~ sarah

Alison,
I love a manicured lawn and garden and yours is gorgeous! Your patio area is so cozy and inviting, the black check cushions and the pink, what a fun combination. I'm up for a "girl" party on the patio, just let me know when!

Your property is beautiful!.. .love the outdoor spaces you have created, furniture is perfect! ...

I seem to not be able to settle on one color scheme around my house... in the front I have salmon geranium with cornflower blue viney flowers draping over edges... in some of the urns I have purple petunias, orange daisies (don't know the variety)..and then there are two urns that have red geraniums and white viney flowers draping...

We also have about 20 hot pink knockout roses around the back patio.

Your gardens and patio look beautiful. I can't wait to see the July pics of the roses in bloom. I love the hot pinks and black colour scheme. I've gone with pinks and mauves again this year. Except for one pot that has yellow in it for fall when the others are spent. I'm really hoping this late spring will mean a long and lovely fall aren't you? Have a wonderful week. Pamela

Your home and gardens are breathtaking. The pinks and purple I'm sure just pop with color against the house. Everything is picture perfect. I have to say I love the porch, with the white sheers, and the cushions. Its a beautiful home for you and your family.........and I'm still smitten with the theme and history of your home.

Hello Allison,
Gorgeous garden - so lush and green! Our garden comes to life mid February here in the South. We are experiencing extreme heat and drought right now so my plants are in need of water daily! Loved visiting your beautifully decorated patios and gardens and yes, would love some pink lemonade! Visiting via Show Off Your Cottage Monday,

Oh wow. Is your outdoor area heaven, or what?? It's so clean and beautiful - not a weed to be seen! I'm impressed! I really love the hot pink pillows! :o) Our flowers we planted are varying shades of red and pinks, but I won't be posting pictures of them. Poor things are being strangled out by the weeds! ;o)

Yvonne@StyleBurb said...

What a gorgeous garden- I can't wait to see it when more of your flowers are in bloom. Pink flowers are my all time favorite! We are in a similar situation as you- my annuals are a few weeks behind schedule due to the yucky spring.

Alison, I absolutely love your patio and garden areas. That's my favorite way of landscaping... lots of green with pops of color. Your black and white patio seating with the hot pink is perfect. I may just have to "copy" your color scheme since I have so much black on my deck. I have so few flowers on our deck as we've have been so hot and dry and things are frying even thought I water at least once a day. For some reason the boxwoods don't seem to mind the heat.
I always love your photos and find myself going back again and again for inspiration.
Thanks again for a beautiful post.
Hugs,
Babs

LOVE...LOVE...LOVE...your black and white and hot pink Alison. How fun!! Your gardens are stunning, and my midwest heart {that lives in hot Texas} is loving your lush gardens. I'm not used to the plants here yet, and am missing my lilacs, and peonies, etc.

I also have to comment on your previous post ~ love that first dealer with the plaid. I collect Skotch Kooler stuff for my cabin in No. Wis. and that red and black plaid gets me every time.

And yes, I agree with you we never had spring this year... we went straight from winter to summer. Enjoy your weekend!~Poppy

I love the black and white checked fabric with the hot pink! What an inviting ourdoor seating area you have. It looks like such a great place to sit and read - or have a glass of wine! I hope you do a lot of entertaining on that property to really take advantage that "resort" setting!

Magazine ready! Or actually, you could do your own coffee table book. I would be the first to purchase it.

Kudos to your "staff"! There is obviously a lot of work involved in creating and maintaining this exceptional property.

Rebecca!
My son cuts the grass and I pull the weeds and trim.
New mulch on the beds make it look better than usual --- an the rains we've had too!

No "staff" here but that sure made me smile!!!

Oh girl...I have really neglected my yard this year with all of the construction inside. Now it is almost too late because here in Atlanta with temps in the 90's everyday it is too darn hot to sit outside. But after seeing you beautiful yard and porch I might have to do a little fluffing so it looks decent in the fall. Love the pop of pink in the pillows with the black!
