A Pity Party

Today I am having a little
pity party
for my
cookbooks.

Spinach & cheese crepe "purses."

Poor things.

They are feeling very, very
neglected these days.

St Patrick's Day ~ Key Lime Cheesecake Bars

Don't know if this has happened
to you yet,
but I find myself pinning
all the
latest and greatest recipes
 while on Pinterest.

Spaghetti with Tomatoes, Black Olives, Garlic, and Feta Cheese

There are countless calories
one can
visually consume
during any given hour
on
Pinterest.

Italian Chicken

You might head there
with the best intentions
of being inspired by a
travel or fashion pin,
a home decor pin,
or whatever your interest might be
only to be lured away
by a photo of some
scrumptious looking dessert
or entree
that leaves you
drooling on your keyboard.

Baked Pumpkin Spice Donuts

Ribbons of yellow squash and green zucchini take center stage on a bed of mixed greens tossed in a light vinaigrette ~~ The other components are, sliced mini heirloom tomatoes of various colors, red and orange pepper strips, purple onion, peas and grilled corn, ( which I grilled inside) finished off with dots of creamy goat cheese and crunchy hazelnuts and a drizzle more vinaigrette.

Has it happened to you?
Be honest.
:D

Banana cake with praline filling and white chocolate ganche

My Pinterest
is brimming with
food images
I would like to try
one day soon.

Frozen S'mores

Is this this happening to you too?

pan-seared scallops....always ask for dry scallops, not the infused ones....

portobella and leek carbonara

Poor old recipe books.
I'll get back to them.... soon?

:)

I have a wonderful collection of cookbooks...but Pinterest is getting most of my attention these days, too!

I know exactly what you mean, except my pins are mainly sweet things and I have no doubt that you make your pins come to fruition much more often than I do. The one exception is a cookbook from our hometown and we still refer to our dear Mrs. Clara Miller's Italian Cream Cake recipe.

I too use pinterest much more often. Cookbooks act more as decorations on my shelves in the kitchen.

I like allrecipes.com a lot. I like that I can see how many people liked it and reviewed it. Then I can feel pretty confident that it is a good recipe. I started cooking when casseroles with cream of whatever soup were popular, along with jello salads loaded with stuff, and pound cake. It's fun to keep up with the new and healthier food trends online. Unfortunately, a cookbook has trouble doing that in a timely manner. Bon appétit! Linda

Alison, I have been too ashamed to talk about it!;<( I have a large cookbook collection and now I go to the internet for recipes. SOOOO sad. We are getting ready to put our house on the market and I am going to give a lot of my collection to my girls. xo Diana

I LUV looking at all the droolable recipes on Pinterest. I haven't started a food board though. Because I know it would be filled with sugar filled goodies. My weakness. I still have cookbooks. I also have recipes in my head, like my mom, and grandma before me.

Alison, I go back to my tried and true recipes, but for most part the web is where I find most of my recipes and inspiration. So easy! '-)

I feel the same way about my cookbooks... but they will patiently wait. They all know that one day you will pick them up again.
Great images... I'm hungry!

Yes it has happened to me too. I haven't used many of my cookbooks much in the last 10 years since I don't eat meat. I can't seem to throw them out as they were mostly my moms. Some are even in French and I can't really understand or do the conversion.

p.s.
since i haven't heard from you, i am guessing
this weekend is not the best one for you to connect.
let me know when you're free to meet.

Whenever i am at any thrift store I see so many recipe books! Some look well-loved while others look as if they had never been opened. I have a few and use only about 1/4 of the recipes in them. I am on the lookout though for one for my friend as she wants a crock pot recipe cookbook.

You know I love Pinterest but I also just got a new cook book that I have been reading while I eat breakfast lol. It's nice to have the photos online but it's also great to flip through the pages.
