If you remember,
I recently mentioned
that I am working on a
residential design project.
(This explains why I have not been
posting as much and why it has been
difficult for me to respond to all your
lovely and thoughtful comments.
So sorry about that!)
My client has
a beautiful French home
and we are planning to fill it with
French pieces, new and old
but they want it current
and not too formal.
but they want it current
and not too formal.
We've been doing our research.
Hitting antique and vintage shops,
internet sources,
and the Chicago Merchandise Mart.
Have to check out all of our options.
No quick decisions.
We've seen great mirrors. |
Antique mantel clocks. |
Lovely chaises. |
French porcelain. |
Antique French Textiles |
We will use eight of these around her casual pedestal table in the kitchen. |
Not French, but love these Swedish clocks. |
An antique settee that seems to be a bit cost prohibitive! |
Some of these things
will work and some won't!
Loving verdure tapestries....such rich colors. |
We snapped lots of photos
of the things we liked or loved.
Reproduction French style chairs. |
Always nice to shop locally to avoid excessive shipping costs. |
Are there any pieces here
that you would add to your home?
We found this vintage 9 ft. settee and will recover it in champagne-colored antique-style velvet. |
Great wall sconces. |
Are these candlesticks gorgeous or what? |

OMG! Alison, you should be my decorator, goodness gracious, I love it all...a few months ago I fell in love with clock like that for my mantel and my husband said so get it, when I went to get it the antique shop had sold it, it was an antique!! I still hate myself for been so slow! Thanks for dropping by even if you don-t have time lately. Hugs sweetie.

That first bench with the white stripe in the center took my breath away! Also love the sconces. I hope you show the reveal when it is done!!!! XO, Pinky

I miss shopping in Chicago, there is a wholesaler you should check out, if you have not already. Olde Chicago Antiques on Kedzie. My friend dean is the manager and Joe the owner shops in Europe 5 times a year. Very reasonable and wonderful stuff. When I had my big shop in St.Louis, I bought 90 percent of my mercandise there, Richard from My Old Historic House.
Alison, so many pretty things. I am always so fascinated by the beautiful intricate mirrors. I just love them. The chairs are fabulous also. I have a thing for chairs. Can't wait to see when it is all done. Hugs, Marty
Oh! The Lincoln Antique Mall too, it's in the city. She sells on Craigslist too!
I love everything that you showed, but it wouldn't fit in our little cottage! Looooved that 9 ft. setee. I hope you're able to show us the final results.
Gosh, I want to go shopping with YOU!!! I would love to have several of those pieces in my home but we are pretty much filled to the brim already! LOL Can't wait to see your client's house...it sounds absolutely divine!!!

You are only excused from posting if you promise to share pics of your clients home once it's finished. Ha! I fell in love with those swedish clocks that you showed. I have a clock in my sitting room, but it's not authentic like those are.
Love the second mirror you showed and I want one of those clocks!
Alison,
I know this will be fabulous when you are done. I love looking at all types of interiors. This is a bit ornate for my style, but still is so beautiful. Hope you are having a good weekend, friend.
Hi Alison!
I drooled my way through this post lol!
That clock is killer! And I have so many similar things at my house. I have almost the identical alabaster bust and mirror with the two cherubs on top and...and...Well you get the picture *winks* I hope you'll share your finished project. I'd love to see it! Vanna
Wow those clocks....and I just rescued a sette that looks almost identical to the one your are recovering, I painted it black, I blogged about it last month. I so LOVE that piece, I can't wait to see your fabric....
It's all beautiful! The last two chairs are my fav. I have an upcoming post on chairs. Love chairs of all kinds. Looks like you're having fun!
Oh my goodness, Alison, what fun the two of you must be having. I would kill for the mirrors and the carved bed!!! :0)

Hi Alison,
I’m sure you will have a blast putting it all together. I love your choices so far. I bet you could find great things at Rosemary's shop. Mixing old with the new will be the crème de la crème.
