All things French

If you remember,
I recently mentioned
that I am working on a
 residential design project.

(This explains why I have not been
posting as much and why it has been
difficult for me to respond to all your
lovely and thoughtful comments.
So sorry about that!)

My client has
a beautiful French home
and we are planning to fill it with
French pieces, new and old
but they want it current
and not too formal.

We've been doing our research.
Hitting antique and vintage shops,
 internet sources,
and the Chicago Merchandise Mart.

Have to check out all of our options.
No quick decisions.

We've seen great mirrors.

Antique mantel clocks.

Lovely chaises.

Stunning 1923 Set: 11 Raised & Encrusted Gold Plates, Minton
French porcelain.
Antique Tapestry From Flanders-First Half 18th Century
Antique French Textiles
Regence Period Carved Bench, c. 1720

We will use eight of these around her casual pedestal table in the kitchen.

Antique French Louis XVl Marble Top Console

Not French, but love these Swedish clocks.

Rare 19th c. French Empire Style Settee or Sofa in Cut Velvet
An antique settee that seems to be a bit cost prohibitive!

Some of these things
will work and some won't!

Loving verdure tapestries....such rich colors.

We snapped lots of photos
of the things we liked or loved.

Reproduction French style chairs.

Always nice to shop locally to avoid excessive shipping costs.

Are there any pieces here
that you would add to your home?

We found this vintage 9 ft. settee and will recover it in champagne-colored antique-style velvet.

Great wall sconces.

A Pair of French Bagues Girandoles
Are these candlesticks gorgeous or what?
A pair of Swedish 19th century Bergeres
Come sit with me and tell me what you like!

OMG! Alison, you should be my decorator, goodness gracious, I love it all...a few months ago I fell in love with clock like that for my mantel and my husband said so get it, when I went to get it the antique shop had sold it, it was an antique!! I still hate myself for been so slow! Thanks for dropping by even if you don-t have time lately. Hugs sweetie.

I miss shopping in Chicago, there is a wholesaler you should check out, if you have not already. Olde Chicago Antiques on Kedzie. My friend dean is the manager and Joe the owner shops in Europe 5 times a year. Very reasonable and wonderful stuff. When I had my big shop in St.Louis, I bought 90 percent of my mercandise there, Richard from My Old Historic House.

You are only excused from posting if you promise to share pics of your clients home once it's finished. Ha! I fell in love with those swedish clocks that you showed. I have a clock in my sitting room, but it's not authentic like those are.

I know this will be fabulous when you are done. I love looking at all types of interiors. This is a bit ornate for my style, but still is so beautiful. Hope you are having a good weekend, friend.

Hi Alison,

I’m sure you will have a blast putting it all together. I love your choices so far. I bet you could find great things at Rosemary's shop. Mixing old with the new will be the crème de la crème.
