Do you love the look of an old shutter?
There are so many ways to bring them inside
and re-purpose them for interior spaces.
They are a great layering piece
and add texture to a room's setting.

About a month ago, I found a a very large old
white shutter frame with two detachable shutters
at our county fairground flea market.

It's about 3 feet by 5 feet tall.... a large piece.
When I first spotted it, I thought ....
ooooooooh, this would make a great mirror!
ooooooooh, this would make a great mirror!
So I took it to my
magic mirror man who can turn
pretty much anything into a mirror.
He called today and said it was ready!
Here is how it looks now.
He did a great job and even added
heavy duty hangers for wall mounting this big boy.

So here's my dilemma....
should I keep it
should I keep it
and hang it my daughter's room,
or should I take it to the shop?
Can't decide!

Alison, I love the shutters and by all means, keep the mirror! :-) Wish I had a magic mirror man near me...would love to have a huge one as a headboard.
Thanks so much for sharing!

I would send it to me!! Just kidding. I love it.
Well, I guess I'd keep something like that if I had a wall to hang it on which, sadly, I don't. It's really a beautiful piece open or closed so I think you should keep it. Beautiful!
It's realy cute, Alison.Great idea to make it into a mirror.
Hmmmm.. answer to your question: If your daughter is wild for it, keep it. If she's so-so, then take it to the shop. I'll bet someone will snap it up in a minute.
Hugs,
Babs
It's great. I would probably keep it if I had a space for it. Hugs, Marty
Alison, I agree with Babs. Someone is going to snap this up quickly in your shop, so if your daughter loves it, keep it in her room. Love the idea! You are very clever. Thanks for sharing all the images. My favorite is the shudder with the arched top.
I would keep it and put it in my bedroom wall, some place where I can check my cloths. A bathroom, or even walking closet! Just keep it sweetie, it's great! Lots of hugs,
FABBY
Alison, I had a similar shutter in a previous house. The buyers asked in the contract to keep the shutter...the only thing they wanted! I have been looking for another one since then. I love how you added the mirror and the color is wonderful. Thanks for linking to my party this week.

Yes I do love the look of an old shutter..adds so much character and charm to a home!
How does your daughter feel about it? Guess that would be a determiner for me...
It certainly makes a unique piece.
Wow, that would be hard to give up! It is so unique, I'd be tempted to keep it! He did a great job!
I'm ga ga for old chippy shutters!! The bigger and older the better! What a great idea for a mirror! And it turned out wonderfully too. I say keep it if you have the room? Or bring it to my house lol! I'll trade ya for something...I've got LOTS of something! *winks* Vanna
I LOVE your new mirror!
Dang, my husband passed on a set of shutters while out junkin the other day.
Thank you so much for the sweet comments. (while I was away)
Oh Alison, I think I would have to keep it! It is fantastic! I love old shutters too!

It's beautiful and unique. Keep it!
I'm loving that white bed with the canopy. *swoon* Then again, I love anything with old shutters. Currently, I have a set in the attic I'm waiting to use. Just haven'ted decided what to do.
Your mirror is really nice Alison. I know in the stores I shop, those shutter mirrors are quick sellers, so if you or your daughter really think you will miss it,I'd keep it. I really like the look when the shutters are only partially opened, but your home is so beautiful, it will look great however you decide to hang it.
i love old shutters too. i think you should keep it. why? i can imagine it looking good in every room of the house, and i love objects like that which can move around seamlessly and feel new with each change. i love the idea of a shutter/mirror on my screen porch after seeing yours!

I love shutters as they have such a Southern feeling and i just love the South. Especially the old dark green ones. Pleasant dreams. Richard at My Old Historic house.

Hey, Alison! I am getting caught-up on reading your blog today! (been a bit ill)...
I do love the look of old shutters! Nice post :D
I like how that came out, and I would keep it IF I had the spot for it...it looks like it could be an extra window somewhere in your home. Either way, it is a winner.
hi Alison, I love shutters too, keep it for your daughter's room. I love the color too.

I love the picture of the green shutters around the corkboard! I wish I had a wall in my house where that would work!!! It's so creative!
I think you'd be able to sell your shutter mirror in the shop in no time. It's very unique! But then again, sometimes you wanna save the best stuff for yourself. :o) It's a toss up!
Very ingenious repurposing, girl! I'd keep it, but then that's how I roll!
