Shuttered Dreams.....

Do you love the look of an old shutter?

There are so many ways to bring them inside
and re-purpose them for interior spaces.

They are a great layering piece
and add texture to a room's setting.

Make sure headboard shutters aren't covered with lead paint when you pillow is so close to it!

About a month ago, I found a a very large old
white shutter frame with two detachable shutters
at our county fairground flea market.

It's about 3 feet by 5 feet tall.... a large piece.
When I first spotted it, I thought ....
ooooooooh, this would make a great mirror!

Old, chippy and very heavy.

So I took it to my
magic mirror man who can turn
pretty much anything into a mirror.

He called today and said it was ready!
Here is how it looks now.
He did a great job and even added
heavy duty hangers for wall mounting this big boy.

So here's my dilemma....
should I keep it
and hang it my daughter's room,
or should I take it to the shop?

Can't decide!
What would you do?

The bottom shutters open, close or come off completely. Options are good!

PLEASE NOTE:

All photos used for this post
were taken from Pinterest,
except shots of the new mirror
which are mine.

Thanks so much for sharing!

Well, I guess I'd keep something like that if I had a wall to hang it on which, sadly, I don't. It's really a beautiful piece open or closed so I think you should keep it. Beautiful!

It's realy cute, Alison.Great idea to make it into a mirror.
Hmmmm.. answer to your question: If your daughter is wild for it, keep it. If she's so-so, then take it to the shop. I'll bet someone will snap it up in a minute.
Hugs,
Babs

It's great. I would probably keep it if I had a space for it. Hugs, Marty

Alison, I agree with Babs. Someone is going to snap this up quickly in your shop, so if your daughter loves it, keep it in her room. Love the idea! You are very clever. Thanks for sharing all the images. My favorite is the shudder with the arched top.

I would keep it and put it in my bedroom wall, some place where I can check my cloths. A bathroom, or even walking closet! Just keep it sweetie, it's great! Lots of hugs,

Alison, I had a similar shutter in a previous house. The buyers asked in the contract to keep the shutter...the only thing they wanted! I have been looking for another one since then. I love how you added the mirror and the color is wonderful. Thanks for linking to my party this week.

I'm loving that white bed with the canopy. *swoon* Then again, I love anything with old shutters. Currently, I have a set in the attic I'm waiting to use. Just haven'ted decided what to do.

Your mirror is really nice Alison. I know in the stores I shop, those shutter mirrors are quick sellers, so if you or your daughter really think you will miss it,I'd keep it. I really like the look when the shutters are only partially opened, but your home is so beautiful, it will look great however you decide to hang it.

I like how that came out, and I would keep it IF I had the spot for it...it looks like it could be an extra window somewhere in your home. Either way, it is a winner.

I love the picture of the green shutters around the corkboard! I wish I had a wall in my house where that would work!!! It's so creative!

I think you'd be able to sell your shutter mirror in the shop in no time. It's very unique! But then again, sometimes you wanna save the best stuff for yourself. :o) It's a toss up!
