Bonjour,
ReplyDeleteJe suis toujours admirative par tout ce que les personnes peuvent collectionner...
Je ne suis pas collectionneuse. Je redouterais d'envahir une maison ! ☺
J'aime beaucoup votre billet avec ces objets insolites...
Gros bisous
These collections are so beautifully displayed!
ReplyDeleteMostly I collect dust...and cats...some dogs and, of course, laundry! :)
xo

Great post! I collect silver trophies, turtle shells, shed antler pieces, English oak biscuit barrels, Bird oils, wicker demijohns, oyster shell plates..... WOW!!!! Too much!!! xo
ReplyDeleteAdore this post and love collections of things....I think it shows a true passion for something and normally there are many interesting stories behind these collections, gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHello Alison... love all of those beautiful collections... and no, I cannot limit my mental list to just ten either... my home is very eclectic... just the way we love it... my husband is a retired police officer and he used to fly the police helicopter for SLCPD, and nowadays builds and flies RC planes and helicopters... so I am always on the lookout for anything to do with vintage aviation... he loves it when I surprise him with a new treasure from the past... and no, I do not mind having a vintage toy airplane or such sitting next to one of my pieces of vintage Limoges... since I am half French, I am always looking for beautiful vintage French items... okay... I can see where this is going... I could write all day about the things I love to collect... loved reading your list... plaid is always on mine as well!... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteYou have some beautiful inspiring collection images here. It seems you have quite a list!
ReplyDeleteI have started paring down and NOT collecting so much at this point in my life. I still have so many THINGS! I have given my daughters some of my collections.
I still have all my Spode Christmas ware and I still collect red/white transferware but other than that I have kind of backed off. Oh- and books- I have always been a collector of books- xo Diana
what fantastic examples of collections!
ReplyDeleteIt's fabulous collections that give a home personality and really lets you know who lives there!! Love you list !
ReplyDeleteKarolyn
Alison, I LOVE, LOVE everything on your "mental list". All those are on my list too, but that's it. :) I almost never see beautiful old boxes, wooden, tortoise shell, or silver and when I do, I can't justify the price.
ReplyDeleteAh, well, I'll just enjoy your beautiful collections. Thanks for sharing. Love them all.
xo Babs
Love seeing your collections . . . some Roseville, Humpty Dumpty's, Santa's and old silver spoons are some of my LIKES . . .
ReplyDeleteI love this post and your list! I agree that having collections of things you love really shows your personality! I recently pulled some pieces out of storage and I love walking by and seeing them now!
ReplyDelete-Shelley
You, lovely lady, are permitted to have as long a shopping list as you like.
ReplyDeleteI am always on the look out for silver pieces of any kind. Lately it is fine linens that grab my attention at consignment and thrift stores as well as estate sales.
Now if I could only figure out what to do with a dearly departed Aunt's collection of 300+ Hummels...
~Joan
Birds of a Feather………my mental list is much like yours, Alison. Add to that sewing items, especially scissors ~ Napoleonic memorabilia, especially bee related ~ French faience ~ and too many more to add here. I'm an addicted collector, what can I say!
ReplyDeleteMy latest find ~ a Georgian box with bees and bee hive details.
Fantastic post. I'll be visiting this one frequently. ;-)
Your collections are great Alison, and you also have the knack for displaying them!
ReplyDeleteQuestion: My husband found an old blue suitcase at school where one of the teachers was using it for storage and plunked it on my dining room table. I don't care for the color so if you have any recommendations on how to change the color, I'd love to know.
Alison,
ReplyDeleteOver the years my collections have changed but I still love the hunt. I usually am searching for old trophies, metal figurines, monogrammed items, equine anything and blue and white pieces of china or pottery. I love some of your examples here.
Karen
Wonderful collections! I have a "list" of items I am always looking for too. The hunt is half the thrill :o)
ReplyDelete~Des
You do have some magnificent collections….and you display them so beautifully!…
ReplyDeleteHi Allison,
ReplyDeleteLoving all your examples of collections as they pretty much sum up my mental list too. I keep threatening to stop collecting, but it's a disease! I'm also in the process of writing a post on collecting except through the eyes of family who must decide what to do with a loved one's collections after they're gone. Someday that will be my family trying to figure out what to do with all my majolica, tartan, bird's nests--the list goes on and on! ~Delores
Oh, and BTW, congratulations on your Midwest Living feature. It's beyond fabulous, as I knew it would be! Your home is amazing and all that tartan makes my heart sing! ~Delores
ReplyDeleteLove how all your collections are displayed! I'm a collector of tartan as well. Not easily found in good condition. Oh yes of course also white stoneware. Red and white anything...transferware....birds nests...my list is too long..I
ReplyDeleteYour list has me wanting to go searching for treasures! I'd say transferware, silver, and original art (preferably old) would be a few things on my list :)
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to see this post on your awesome blog. It is kind of like it validates having collections! I am no minimalist, so it makes me happy to see others who enjoy what they collect, also. Give me a good dose of anything old, especially cowboy or Indian stuff, woodsy things, old prints/pictures, and seasonal and holiday treasures, and I am one happy camper!
ReplyDeleteTeresa at cottagelodge.net
I'm a "collector", too - so couldn't limit my list to 10 items either :)
ReplyDeleteI want to thank you again for the Midwest Living magazine. I keep thumbing through the fine & extensive layout featuring your home. Warm and welcoming while clearly classy and sophisticated...It's always a pleasure to "visit"!
These collections are so wonderfully displayed. I collect a variety of objects and it is great fun when you happen upon something to add. I especially like all of your boxes.
ReplyDeleteI really need to find a way to display our silver. We need to enjoy….thanks for the inspiration!
