There is a chill in the air
and it seems that summer
is starting to cool down
to allow for fall
to take her place.
We've been lucky enough to have
two or three rains
almost every week this summer
to keep things green.
I have never been so grateful for them
until I read so many of your blogs
where you have shared your desperate needs
for rain in your gardens.
It's wondeful to see what blooms
from month to month in the summer.
Just as one flower goes to seed
another one begins to blossom nearby.

"Let me enjoy
this late-summer day of my heart
while the leaves are still green
and I won't look so close as to see
that first tint of pale yellow slowly creep in.
I will cease endless running
and then look to the sky
ask the sun to embrace me
and then hope she won't tell
of tomorrows less long than today.
Let me spend just this time
in the slow-cooling glow of warm afternoon light
and I'd think I will still have the strength
for just one more last fling of my heart."

Oh such beautiful gardens!! They are an inspiration to me. I am putting in a new flower bed this week and my goal is to have things blooming throughout the summer next year. Thank you for the beautiful tour!
Alison,
Your yard and flowers are just beautiful. It's very dry here. We had to water our grass today because it's beginning to turn brown. I'm ready for fall, too. I just went outside to walk the dog, and I could detect a little change in the air. Yipee!
your photos are wonderful. Everything looks so lush and green. It's been so dry and hot here everything just dried up and turned crunchy. I have to water everyday just to save what flowers I have in pots. Thanks for sharing the beauty. xo Debra
Every year I find it hard to see August slip away. At least I know I'm not the only one.
Beautiful images, Alison. I love getting to see more of your garden. It's nice to see things thriving. ;-)

Alison your gardens are stunning! Such beautiful beds and grounds. I loved seeing the hydrangeas in bloom. They are one of my favorites.
It is always a little difficult for me to let go of summer and give into to fall, but each season brings it's own beauty and I soon give into it.
I am so glad to hear that you have had the needed moisture to keep all this loveliness green and lush. We have been blessed this way too. I do feel so bad for other areas that haven't been as fortunate.
Such beautiful photos...I enjoyed the tour so much!!!
smiles from here...
