Friends for lunch

My friends are coming by for lunch tomorrow!
Can't wait. Girls' day out treasure hunting.
We'll share a light lunch before we are off
for a few hours of antiquing.

This little piggy came home with me this past
weekend from an estate sale. Couldn't resist
his cute little face and the chippy paint.

Love these square green and brown toile scene
plates I found last year at Tuesday Morning.
You never know what you might find in that store.
I have good luck days there, and then some not so!

The tablecloth is small vintage wool blanket
found at a flea market. It has the initials
"UTA" woven into the wool, which stands for
Union de Transports Aériens,  a French airline
company circa 1960. In 1990, it became part
of Air France. This was a lap blanket given
to customers on flights, but it's the perfect
size for a table topper.

Well, the only problem with setting the table one day in advance is that it could all change at any minute.
I find myself constantly "tweaking"  things.

Are you like that too?

  3. Wonderful tablescape! I love your little piggie ... and, the green apple candlesticks and plates are so pretty. I was just at TM this morning ... found a fun French lamp, but that was about it (which might be a good thing). I'm a constant tweaker, too! Have fun with your friends !! Becca

  6. I do love your tablescape. Those dishes are really, really speaking to me!! Don't you love using things as a tablecloth that really aren't a tablecloth? That lap throw is perfect and looks great. I love the original intent. Cute little piggy for sure.
I would love having you stop by and hearing your opinion of the plaid fabric I'm considering using on my wingback redo. Please let me know if you might have another fabric in mind too!
    Thanks,Donna

  7. Hi there, due to computer issues the other day I didn't have a chance to tell you how beautiful your home is. It is absolutely gorgeous! I love your equestrian style. I am trying to use some equestrian things in our master bedroom, but not sure how it is working out. Thanks for posting some of the sites to purchase things, I am going to check them out. I just may be back over looking for some expert advice.

  8. Yes. I am a "tweaker" of great proprtions!
    I understand completely!
I never seem to use anything for the purpose it was originally intended. The lap blanket makes a lovely tablecloth!
I am currently trying to figure out how to make four dolphin bathtub feet into a fountain! Wish me luck!

  13. Alison, What an unusual tablescape! I love it, especially the French lap robe used as your table cloth. Piggy is adorable with his beautiful patina and for heaven's sake... did you make the apple candleholders? Please tell how if you did. I wish we all lived closer too. What fun we could have. Have a great week.
