Winter Decor

Chip, the old cement horse jockey, greets guests at the front door.

Still no snow to mention
so far this winter at the PH,
but it is chilly
so Chip is bundled up a wee bit.

Winter urn filled with birch, sugar pine cones from Lake Tahoe and fresh greens and berries.

We were hoping for a dreamy
White Christmas this past week
 but other than two slight
"dustings" in November
we've had no snow accumulation.

The chicken nesting bins at the back side door
got a little decked out
for the season --
now a bit of a fire-making station.

They are calling for possible snow
south of the city this week
but I don't think it will reach us here in
the far northern 'burbs.
:(

Vintage red metal snow shoes become a centerpiece for holiday greens.

Had thought about bringing Chip in
for the winter to hold guest towels in
the powder room, but he is so
unbelievably HEAVY and is
chipping so badly (thus the name)
that I decided to let him stay put.

Better get back to my post-holiday cleaning
and thank you note writing.
May have to have a little chocolate
or two (or four?)
with my coffee to keep me
"charged" up
for the tasks at hand.

:D

Enjoy your day!
Alison

P.S.
I have a New Year's Giveaway
planned for next week. Stop back soon
and check it out!

Alison,
I love Chip. He's such a sporty fellow. I'm chomping at the bit to start the Christmas un-do but our family will be here until tomorrow so I'm patiently waiting to do my clean up until the weekend.
Happy 2015. I am so happy to get to visit your wonderful blog site each time you post.
xo,
Karen

Alison,
Chippy looks rather dapper in his tartan scarf. I suspect he is very happy to greet guests at your front door. It's very cold here, but no snow. They predicted we might have sleet last night and canceled the city New Year's Eve fireworks celebration. It's been rainy, but fortunately no ice.
Stay warm and cozy. Enjoy your holiday!
Happy New Year! I hope 2015 is filled with good health and joyful times.

Chip looks so handsome in his tartan scarf, and would you believe I saw his "cousin" at an antique/decor store near me? I immediately thought of your Chip.
LOVE your urn with the sugar pine cones. I hope you had a great Christmas. And, good wishes for a happy and healthy New Year.

Your nesting boxes are fabulous! I just adore plaid! We had record warms for Nov. and most of Dec. Finally got snow for Christmas. Super cold lately.
