What's new
in Christmas decor?
Not much!
Have been scouring the magazines,
blogs, stores, and design centers
for any inspiration I can feast my eyes upon
but there really is not really anything
"new"
out there.

But let me tell you...
these oldies
are
GOODIES!

I love the smell of fresh evergreens in the winter!
Red berries are wonderful and any fresh fruits
added to the mix are even better.
Southern Living |
Pine cones, twigs,
and green leafy branches,
all add great texture
and interest
to your holiday evergreen dressings.
The Magnolia Company |
Add personality
and your own style
with material elements
like ribbons, ornaments,
and strands of beads
or glittery garlands.
Some prefer the more natural decor
while others like to glitz it up
and really add pizzazz and magic
to their displays.

As for me,
I like them all!
Little bit of natural in one area,
and then a lot of sparkles and lights
in another spot.

It's all up to you.
So tell me, how will you
be decking your halls this year?

Nothing new here!! Even though I would like to do something different; this is our 55th Christmas and the kids and now the grandkids would be disappointed if I did something out of the ordinary. There is something comforting to them about the same old stuff; and family is who is important. Sally
ReplyDeleteFun topic! Our family enjoys the traditional Christmas decor so I won't be changing a thing. Well except for the beautiful plaid plates in the Williams Sonoma catalog. They may show up on our dining table :-)
ReplyDeleteWow Alison..everything is simply breathtaking. Love it.......I like to change it up a bit but am a pretty true traditionalist. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteWow! What beautiful, beautiful images. I love everything here, Alison. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYou have given us so many "oldies but goodie" ideas! There is so much to inspire in this post!!!
ReplyDeleteI am going very natural this Christmas... except for the outside of the house!
Happy Thanksgiving Alison!!! I am thankful for your friendship.
Wow, Alison, there is so much eye candy here, that I don't know where to begin! Every time I think I have it all planned out, I come across posts like this, that give me even more ideas! Lol! Wishing you and your beautiful family a happy and blessed Thanksgiving!!!
ReplyDeleteI love all your inspirational pics. Awesome!!! I am a traditionalist. I love my red, gold, green, and silver touches.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving, Alison!!!! xo
With love with love...and red and green and the smell of pine
ReplyDeleteHmmm... so many great ideas.
ReplyDeleteI want to do a natural Christmas this year... at least that is the plan. When I get it all out and start to deconstruct and reconstruct we will see. The idea is NOT to get anything new. Just use what we already have and what I can gather naturally.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Cheers, Gee
Alison I am using more natural elements. The great thing we can enjoy in all of these images is that everyone has their own style for the holidays!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
xoxo

Gorgeous images, so much inspiration!! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Alison!
ReplyDeleteI'm drawn to a natural Christmas....but all my stuff is vintage 30's and 40's shiny brite....I mix it with a white tree and white garland. I love all of it....I think I need two houses...one to decorate in my collections and one to decorate in a natural style....if only I had a weekend getaway in the woods.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I am loving the two large topiarys by the door!

Fresh greens is always a must....anywhere from our real tree to stuffing several vases with fresh branches and holly. I order the fresh variegated holly from Spring Hill Holly Farm and every year I get it delivered on Dec. 8th. I also add the holly on the outside fresh wreaths and planters stuffed with spruce, pine and cedar. I can't forget to mention the large pinecones I scatter also. I have an antique family nativity from Germany and in the dining room I decorate a table top tree with vintage knee hugger elves. Our home is decorated very traditional with fresh greens amongst vintage treasures. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteAlison, They are all beautiful! I especially love the arches decorated.
ReplyDeleteAlison...all of the images are just exquisite...I love the Magnolia Company mantel...Yes, I have notice these past couple of years that there is nothing new out there...one of the "suppliers" said that they were not making many "new" things due to the economy...so I will have to just "refreshen the old"...I love this time of year...my favorite!...Well, back to decorating and cooking!
ReplyDeleteHave a wondeful Thanksgiving with your family!

I agree. So many pretties :)
ReplyDeleteWELLLL, I will be decorating a completely new space and THAT is exciting!!!! Can't wait to see where everything will fit, and how it will look. All of these pics are inspiring. My tree wilkl always be red and gold, I believe cause I have so much invested in it:) Wishing you a VERY happy and blessed Thanksgiving. I am thankful for your friendship. XO
ReplyDeleteAlison,
ReplyDeleteI loved the Veranda this season. The juxtaposition between the oil painted portrait and the rustic accents was a fabulous Christmas image.
All of these are inspiring.

What fabulous inspirational pics, Alison! You've included ones that would appeal to every style and taste. And, yes, I do change it up ... a little too much sometimes (oops). I hope you and your family had a Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteIf I am ever to get my halls decked, I will have to stop reading about everyone else and their hall decking. But I don't want to miss a new idea!!!
ReplyDeleteBliss
All of the pictures are beautiful. I love them all.
ReplyDeleteWhat ever the style might be, there's nothing as lovely as fresh greens to deck the halls. Maybe we just need to make our own kind of "new" this year!!
ReplyDeleteA little of natural and vintage. I've been a follower of Martha Stewart for decades, and it's mostly the traditional look, with pops here and there of something new. But it's down to a routine. Merry Christmas!!!
