| When I saw it, it immediately reminded me of the one that sat outside the spring house at my grandparents' farm. My sisters and I sharpened sticks, and pebbles, and anything else we could think of on it! This one looks just like it. |

After 3 weeks of helping my husband restore a new knee, I feel like a duck out of water. I have hardly had the time to 'play' in blogland! Love this post Alison. So creative and so well done. I love this....and that rock has to be heavy!! We had one on a small farm we rented in Wisconsin...I couldn't move the thing...but I LOVE your vignette.

Believe it or not we never played it, never heard of it till I moved away?? I guess we don't play it in Central IL?? wonderful post as always.
What a treasure the ledger paper is! You know that will be a thing of the past within the new generations coming on. Cursive writing is no longer being taught in our schools and it's such a shame. Nothing more interesting than the swirls and curls of beautiful handwriting. And... with computers, ipads and smartphones, lined paper will be considered as ancient as the scroll. Just a thought to ponder.... Beautiful post and gorgeous vignette.
