Welcome to the
Tartan Parade
Whether you
are joining through

Upstairs Downstairs, Babs' blog,
or coming in through
we are thrilled
you've joined us.
Does plaid dwell in your home?
Maybe it's the first thing
you see in the morning
Maybe you have it on your lap
when you curl up to watch TV or read?
If it's not part of your home,
maybe it is a piece in your wardrobe?
Maybe you like it or maybe not.
Maybe it harbors too many
parochial school memories
for you to have it in your house?
(Had several bloggers secretly confess that to me!
Don't worry --- no names mentioned! Promise.)
I love it
more and more the older I get
and since I started blogging,
I realize I'm in good company.
There are lots of you out there
sharing the same passion.

Hi! Love your post. I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves plaid. I use to have an old plaid lunch box like the one you have there. Happy Tartan Day and Happy Tartan Parade.

Alison, it's always a treat to tour Polohouse, but especially so with a nod toward the tartans. You have some fabulous pieces. Your home is full of charm! I'd love to be in that cozy plaid chair reading or blogging.
ReplyDeleteLooks like your lunch box group has grown. ;-) I only have a couple, but plan to add more if I find them. They are fun stacked up as you show yours. Love the little truck with its tartan load. Is that a new find?
Thanks for all the help with the linky thing. You are the best!
Let the Parade begin! ~ Sarah
Oh, I'm in heaven, tartan heaven. I love, love, love your home. Surrounded in all of that lovely, historical plaid would be a dream. Your words and photographs are like the best comfort food. But they are also eye candy to my soul.
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding, you have this much plaid in your house? Is there something wrong with me? I see no plaid in my house......at all. Not even a car blanket. Hmmmm, this will be a challenge, but I have 4 days right? Did you do that for me? I will keep you posted.
ReplyDeleteLove the trunk and two chairs! Never saw a picture frame in plaid before-that's really neat-enjoy:@)
ReplyDeleteI must admit that for many years I associated all things plaid with my high school uniform skirt--blue and gray pleated, rolled up at the waist under my sweater! But your tartans are beautiful. I had that very red plaid lunchbox, but I have never seen a red plaid frame before. You do have some wonderful items. Linda
ReplyDeleteYou really have the tartan and your home is just perfect for it! SO many pretty pieces and fabrics! This is the third blog I have been to in the party...what fun!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
I can't think of a single piece of tartan in my house and now I have Tartan envy!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm having "Locker Lounger" envy~ what a great piece and I love your collection of lunch boxes! Thanks for the fun and leading the parade :)
ReplyDeleteI was hoping I could find something in my house to contribute to your party. Now I just have to go shopping because I do love tartan! Your trunks are just beautiful! Have a great Sunday!

What a great Tartan post! I too have been falling in love with tartan as I get older. We are an equestrian family and I think I contact these two loves together. Very excited about this week's Tartan Parade, thank you for hosting my friend. Diane
ReplyDeleteThese images are inspiring...although I do not have any plaid, my mother does. I sure would wear that coat!
ReplyDeleteI love all the tartan that you have in your home, Alison...thanks for sharing those great photos with us. I don't have tartans in my current house but I will enjoy your party by looking at other entries.
ReplyDeleteI'm drooling over your fabulous collection of tartan pieces. LOVE your red tartan chairs and the Locker Lounger is a great retro piece. I'm loving all of it...and feeling the urge to start collecting tartan lunch boxes.:)
ReplyDeleteI have always loved plaid. My grands go to school where they wear plaid skirts, or jumpers depending on the grade they are in. I don't think there is anything sweeter than a child in plaid. Your collection is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI am happy to say that when I clicked on today I got NO WARNINGS! Yeeaaaaa. I am so glad you got it fixed. xo Diana
Alison, you have such great tartan pieces in your gorgeous home. You would think I would have some in the sitting room, but think I only have one small pillow with it.
ReplyDeleteOh the plaid frame is amazing. Great post.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad your problem is solved, every time I would come here I would get a warning notice and my security would kick me out. Nice to be able to see your posts again.
Hugs, Marty
You always have the best collections ... plaids and tartan being another example! And, a reminder of how I FAIL when it comes to gathering beautiful collections. LOL. And, as always, love seeing your gorgeous home.
ReplyDeleteHi Alison,
ReplyDeleteYour post just makes me happy! Your home is so wonderful with all your plaids. I would love a tour someday! I would be in tartan heaven! Thanks for all your help with the link. I think I figured it out! This is so much fun! Happy Tartan Day! I'm going to the flea market and guess what I'm looking for ? Tartan! Vintage tartan, just like you have displayed! ~Delores
Oh I just adore plaid. Your darling post has made me blissfully happy.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting!
I'm still sorry for not buying a few years ago, a great set of tartan dishes in green and red!! I said then...WHAT FOR ANOTHER SET OF DISHES! I guess I wasn't blogging that's it! When I was a kid in Astoria-Queens, NY, I had a thermus, a lunch box and even my mom had a luggage piece in red plaids! Oh werll, I will make a point of finding something now, even a tablecloth, lol..thanks for your lovely visit, I'm loving the mugs! Happy Palm Sunday.
ReplyDeleteFABBY
What a wonderful collection of plaids/tartans you have! Is that the Gordon tartan in the second last picture? Pretty close looking any way. Fun post! Pamela
ReplyDeleteI so want a stack of plaid lunch boxes - yours are wonderful. Must keep looking!! Thanks for hosting this fun get together. Sally
ReplyDeleteHi Alison, Wow, love your fabulous collection of Tartan Plaids. The lunchbox collection is amazing. This tugged at my heart, my son used one when he was young. I still have it somewhere. What a sweet pup under the tartan and those chairs, love them! I love the Burberry plaid too, and the coat has my name all over it. Great Parade of Tartan!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting Alison.

Allison, thank you for inviting me along for the party, but - as you know- I've been a bit distracted. I just adore your beautiful home! It really has a lot of the same feel as Waveney's home. So pretty all decked out in plaid. LOVE those plaid chairs, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your gorgeous home with us girls.
xxoo

I will proudly admit to having worn plaid to within an inch of its life during my Catholic school days. TWELVE LONG YEARS of that!!! I wasn't so fond of it back then, but now I can look back at it fondly. I actually carried one of those plaid lunchboxes, too! Plaid has always been a part of my wardrobe (those nuns indoctrinated us to wear it for the rest of our lives!!!), and always look forward to the winter months when I can put on a long plaid skirt with a classic cut wool jacket. It's all just too deliciously Ralph Lauren! :-) You have some wonderfully fabulous plaid pieces throughout your home! I love the classic look!
ReplyDeleteI think there are alot of us plaidaholics out here, great post and fun party, just linked up!!
ReplyDeleteI love Tartan plaids at Christmas time, not so much for warmer weather. I went to Parochial school from grade school through graduate school, and my 4 gkids go now, so no complaints from me! I guess it is pretty good if people are willing to pay so much to go as well as pay high school taxes. :)
ReplyDeleteYou have beautiful plaids and a lovely home. We have Polo matches here in Southampton in the summer.
Thanks for the party!
Oh, wow! Look at all of the plaid! I don't think I have any - I'm deprived.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
shelia ;)

You have beautiful plaids that go very well with your home. I wish I had kept the plaid lunchbox and thermos that I had :-)
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, you do, indeed, have the most luscious collection of plaids I've seen. Your chairs and pillows and pictures....it is all just beautiful and I am so full of PLAID ENVY, I could just spit.

Hi Alison, I'm enjoying the Tartan parade on everyone's blog. I looked around for Tartan in my house and - - none! And that's in spite of me have Scottish Collies. Must remedy this asap. Next junking trip for sure. I did some junking last week and saw a vase you might like and linked you on my blog last week. Enjoy the spring! - Debbie O at Scratch Where It Itches
ReplyDeleteI love your tartan collection. Everything is so beautiful. Love the chairs especially..Christine
ReplyDeleteAwesome! The plaids are so pretty. I always love looking at all of your decor details. Can't get enough of it!
ReplyDeleteMs. Polo, I am not a tartan kind of boy, but you'res is the bomb. Great ideal. Richard from My Old Historic House. PS, Happy Easter
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely the Queen of Tartan!...You have such a beautiful collection of all things tartan...however, those lunch boxes are the best...I am so loving them..Now I need to go on the hunt for them..
ReplyDeleteHi Alison, Love all of your plaids! The display with your gameboard and all of the lunch pails is to die for! Love, love the tqs. one. I wish I would've checked in earlier and had been prepared for this party. I linked an old post. It's my porch at Christmas. Kind of weird showing it in April, but oh what the heck! I can see from your post that i need more plaid! lol! I do have a cute rectaglular tqs. plaid tin in hubby's office. It says sportman which fits him to a Tee. Must admit, I like it better than him.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann
GREAT PARTY! Seeing all these images of amazing tartans was such fun...bringing back memories.
ReplyDeleteMy fellow Canadians will relate; when I think of tartans I include MacIntosh toffee candy box (tartan). It was a bar of caramel toffee that you traditionally chilled then smashed into pieces to share with friends - that's how Canadians enjoyed this treat.
Thank you to all that shared your tartans with us. I love tartan/plaid!
I especially love your plaid frame with the horse print...and those gorgeous plaid side chairs....Your home looks beautiful!.....Thanks for hosting this great party...
ReplyDeleteOh I love your tartan furniture. Those chairs are gorgeous! What fun tartans you shared. I had that metal locker when I went to camp back in the early 60's (without the legs)! I have no idea what happened to it, but there have been so many times I wished I still had it. I adored it. Thanks for the party! laurie
ReplyDeleteHi! Alison,
ReplyDeleteOmg! what a fun post! I just love everything in your photos. lol
The Tartan picture frame is awesome! As a child, my favorite piece was my little Tartan kilt. O' soooo loved it!
Thank you so much for sharing this post and the valuable links you provided. I found tons of historical info. Merci!
Have a beautiful Easter! Joyeux Paques!
