It's the little things

It's the little things
that can make your holiday
decorations more memorable.

Little scenes.

Little collections.

Little groupings.

My friend and I were just talking
about Christmas decorating
the other day,
and I mentioned that for me ---
Christmas never goes up the same way
that it did the year before.

Though we may pull out
the same old boxes
of holiday decorations
year after year
things get placed in
different spots
and are mixed with recent finds
or older items
to create a new look.

Is that how it is at your place?

Always inventing
a new way to reuse
the same old things?

Why not?!?

It keeps it fresh.
Makes it interesting.

Kind of fun to get the
creative juices flowing.

I HAD SUCH A GREAT DAY TODAY!
Spent the whole day with a friend,
a super crazy talented blogging friend,
that many of you know.
Will tell you all about her
and why we spent the day together
when she gives me the
"go ahead".
:)

 The house is all set.
Now to get some shopping done!

  4. I am totally with you, I change it up each year. I love mixing things together that I might not have thought about doing the year before. My taste seems to change, too,,,what's up with that? Anyway, your collections look wonderful. I especially like the cloche with the rider under it:) Happy holidays to you and yours, friend!

  5. So beautiful . . .

I do some things the same . . . like the candle in the window to invite in from the cold . . . my "Ah Friends. . . ." writing. My mother's Hummel Nativity, Scherenschnitte cuttings on the window panes . . . Greens are different, berries and pinecones . . . changing things is part of the joy . . .

Your decorating, style, home . . . stunning!

  9. Alison,
Your vignettes always inspire me. The little things in a home are the real treasures for me. I do the same, use my Christmas decorations in different ways each year. So pretty.

  16. Alison, Your little groupings are lovely. I especially like the one with the little package tied with the brown velvet bow. I also try to use my old things in new ways, but your "old things" are so much more beautiful. :) Thanks for all your inspiration.

  18. I mix it up every year, too. It is so fun for me and the decorating part makes my holiday! Love all your equestrian touches. I thought one year I will do a tree of all horse ribbons my daughter won, plus horsey things. Have a wonderful holiday and happy countdown to Christmas! xo Nancy
