Favorites on the First, JULY Theme Reveal

Can you believe
we are almost halfway
through the month of
June?

Our spring weather here along
the northern shores of
Lake Michigan
has been oddly cool.
Tons of rain -- everything is green
and growing like crazy,
which is very nice.

Here comes my
big confession:
it's June 13th
and I have yet to buy
and plant my annuals.

(That is SO not like me. I usually have people
telling me I'm crazy for buying my plants
before Mother's Day.)

Our weekends have been chilly
and the past couple weeks have been
packed with work, plus my daughter's
high school graduation all the
events and parties surrounding the event.
Very exciting! Such a great time we have had!

I just have not
had the chance to get
my act together.

However,
July 4th is coming
and since it is one
of my most FAVORITE holidays,
being the patriotic gal that I am,
I was so excited when
Ricki Jill suggested
that the next theme for

Favorites on the First
might be
PATRIOTIC DECOR!

Yes!
Yes!
Yes!
Great idea, Ricki Jill!

So I am sharing today
some pics taken a couple years ago
to remind you to snap photos
of your July Fourth decor
as you begin to pull things out
and link it up with us
here on
July 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd!

OK!?!

See you then.
:)

  1. Yea! I'm a patriotic gal too with plenty of red, white, and blue for all the summer patriotic holidays. Wonderful theme for July! ~ Sarah

  3. Alison... I can certainly understand your delay in planting - my friends in Chicagoland have been complained about all the rain. I have the opposite problem - all is planted and we are only allowed to water once a week. We have had so little rain. The grass is always greener. Have a great week.

  4. Yay! And don't feel badly about the annuals. I literally just finished putting ours in containers and putting out some pine straw. Our neighborhood service didn't put out enough, so I had to do it myself! I still have some straw in my hair, so it's shower time.

I'll probably post my containers next week.

  5. This is a great theme, there are so many new and fresh ways to decorate and honor our country. I can't wait to see what everyone has!

Don't feel bad about not having planted yet, I just got mine done this week. Busy and this crazy cold/rainy weather here. Unfortunately, a lot of the good stuff was picked over or sold out. Next year I may buy early and put it in the garage if it's too cold.

  6. You chose a great theme, and have motivated me to gather my patriotic goods and photograph them.

I don't feel that you are behind with your plantings unless you were planning on planting seeds ;o) We haven't really been able to enjoy our plantings because we've had to dodge the raindrops for the last few weeks. Sunshine is in the forecast starting tomorrow, so I have my sunglasses ready!

  12. It had been colder here too and not easy to do gardening in such weather... Besides the squirrels had eaten all my tulip bulbs from last year! I do not appreciate that animal(:

Well enjoy the preparations! Love theme parties!
