My mom always used
to scold us if we tried to put our
feet up on the coffee tables
in our house.
Same at yours?
So I felt kind of guilty
when I decided
to put these riding boots
as accessories
on my living room
coffee table one day.
But then I found this neat
round iron and marble tray
on sale at Pottery Barn
so technically, the boots
are not
really
on the table, right?!
Have you ever put anything
on display that isn't
an accessory
by
traditional means?
Sorry, Mom! :) |

ReplyDeleteThey're fabulous! I haven't had anything pretty on my coffee table in a long time now, but you may have just inspired me to get a little crazy with it. :)
ReplyDeleteNow those, I could make an exception for...so beautiful. As is your entire home, every time I get a glimpse, it reminds me of how beautiful your home is Alison!
ReplyDeleteLove your boots, they look perfect. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteWhat a great display! Your right, they are not on the table, but the tray!

Your boots on the coffee table are
ReplyDeleteboot-iful. :) I'd love to have them on my coffee table. The loving cup and preserved boxwood with them, really make a great vignette. Hugs and stay warm,
Babs
I love the vignette, Alison. Your photos are always great.xo
ReplyDeleteLove this look, thinking outside the box often brings us the best look. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThey look perfect as a table top vignette in this room. Love the look of this room with the large urns filled with palms, the sitting area in the bay window, the horse vignette on the table, ...... what's not to love about this space? Alison, you have beautiful style!

What a gorgeous vignette. I love your equestrian style. Do you mind sharing where you got your boot inserts. I have a pair of riding boots on the hall tree in our foyer, but they won't stand up nicely.
ReplyDeleteDear D,
DeleteI found the boots with the inserts at a local antique shop. I just tried to find the company who made them, but it appears they are no longer in business. The name of the company was Faulkner & Sons of London.
There are some boots with there inserts coming up for auction soon. Check out this link for more information:

Hope that helps!

Love the vignette! Where did you find the boots and the inserts? Are there specific names for the bot inserts?
ReplyDeleteAlison, I just love this vignette! You are so creative...this is so perfect for your home!
ReplyDeleteAlison, I love the boots and trophy. Your vignette is beautiful.
ReplyDeletexx, Sherry
Those cute boots could walk all around the room forming a variety of vignettes. Near the front door with a cane and/or riding crop. Near a window with flowers jutting from them. Or maybe with candles! Displayed next to a rocking horse...so many ideas.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful...perfect in the room...it adds such an element of surprise in that gorgeous traditional room...love the boot forms and that topiary ball in the trophy!! Perfect compliment!...
ReplyDeleteWell done. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your style, effortless but so......finished!!! Jealous.

Alison,
ReplyDeleteI need to be re-thinking my accessories. This looks great. Good job...your mom will love it!
Karen
This is a fantastic idea, I use heels sometimes as decor/decorations & cowboy boots. YOur blog is fantastic, I just discovered it via Rebecca Ray's blog roll.
ReplyDeleteAlison, these look awesome. I have come to think of you every time I see something equestrian. I currently have a set of shoe stretchers on my coffee table in the den.
ReplyDeleteMy most memorial chide from my mom was "That's not ladylike". I like to think it worked.
Blessings, Ginger
