The elves have been busy this week.
Scurrying around, unpacking boxes,
hanging greens and ribbons,
ornaments and garlands.
Doing their best
to get this place in shape
to ring in the holidays.
You may remember Lucky,
our three-legged horse
who is usually in the kitchen.
Right now he is under the stairs
with my grandfather's little green sled.
The entry hall table
is layered with plaid and greens
and a silver polo player that I found
while antiquing a few years back.
Will post more photos tomorrow.
It has been a labor of love
working to decorate the place this season.
Will be sad to think the next time we open
the plastic Christmas bins ---
we may very well be in a new
or temporary place next year.
It will be fine!
I truly believe that home is where the heart is.
God is good.

Merry Christmas.

Beautiful!!! Come visit my blog today if you have time. I have an exciting announcement!
ReplyDeleteHi Alison, I enjoy seeing your beautiful polo house decorated every Christmas with the plaids and horse themes. As I was looking at your photos I was thinking that this may be your last Christmas there which must be kind of bittersweet for you. But, as you said, God is good and He will lead you to better things. I just found you on Instagram and am following you there. Have a blessed Christmas. Pam
ReplyDeleteAlison, home is definitely where the heart is. When we were considering a move, my husband felt he was forcing me to give up our home and move to a townhome. My response was and always will be, home is where we are together. I think you and I both have the love to make any house into a home. '-)
ReplyDeleteThat said, I know you will fondly remember The Polohouse. We are all fortunate that it has been shared through your blog. I know it is especially special during the holidays.
Merry, Merry!

Your home looks fabulous as always! I am sure it is bittersweet but as all of the others have mentioned, as you have as well, home is where the heat is I know that with your talents and artistic eye the next place will be stunning as well.
ReplyDeleteYour labor of love has certainly paid off in your beautiful home dressed for Christmas...I have always loved the way you use plaid in each room and even your fur baby has a gorgeous plaid ribbon! Yes, I can't imagine the feeling of this possibly being your final Christmas in this amazing home. I look forward to your new adventures in 2017....Merry Christmas to you and your family Alison!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had Very Merry Christmas. I feel your loss over your beloved golden. He is out of your site but never out of your heart.
