If you can answer yes to either of these questions,
you may have seen stacks of
those famous glorious orange boxes
being used in home decor.
May I ask you,
what do you
think about it?
The times I have seen it in person --
it has brought about
much commentary
among tour attendees.
In a closet?
Absolutely -- you would not want to throw away
an orange box or a pale aqua box,
for sure!
But do you think they should be collected
and displayed in common rooms?
What do you think about it?
Are you a fan or not?

Not a fan of the orange boxes, but am of that gorgeous orange shoulder bag!
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of orange boxes, but they DO "plant" an idea.... I have splashes of the color orange in our house. I find it surprisingly warm & invigorating. I especially like it paired with turquoise!
ReplyDeleteI would hope they were just for display purposes in show homes. In a real home, it would be the equivalent of leaving the tag on a piece of furniture to let everyone know where you bought it.
ReplyDeleteNow like you said, for closet storage, very cute idea. I have my little robin-egg-blue boxes in my dressing room holding trinkets galore! (But never on the coffee table!).

ReplyDeleteI like the splash of color, but I agree with you and your reader, they belong in a closet or personal space. My boxes to save as trinket storage are the Jo Malone boxes, but not as a decorative accessory.

I love the idea of using them for "hidden" storage...like in a closet or on covered shelving. They would be great Fall props, too...everyday? for me? Not so much- xo Diana

ReplyDeleteAlison, I'm chiming in with others. Doesn't seem tasteful to have them on display in public spaces. I would definitely keep them and use them within a closet. They make great storage boxes. I've saved my MacKenzie Childs boxes because they are beautiful and classic, but use them for storing things in a closet. If I had an Hermes box, it would definitely be one I kept. They too are beautifully made and classic. Used for display in a home would make me think of a store display, not a personal treasure.

My orange boxes are in my closet. Although I love to wear what came in them, I don't like to see the boxes displayed.
ReplyDeleteI just looked on Ebay and discovered that empty Hermes boxes are for sale. Sorry, but they're not for me. Now Neimans boxes - that's a different story! (Just kidding.) The term "nouveau riche" comes to mind when I see these displays...

That color, for whatever reason, does not seem to add punch...or is
one asking too much of orange?
I am NOT a fan of any sort of unmarked box unless it is a beautiful wooden box :^)
