If you have been around the blog a while
you know that we have two dogs,
Cicada, our black lab,
and Hallie, our Golden.
Cicada or "Cada" joined our family first
and is now 8.
She came to us the summer of
our 17-year cicada infestation here in Illinois
and she ate those nasty bugs like they were candy
every day as a puppy, thus the name.
She is a lover. Great personality
and has an internal time clock
that you could set your watches to --
reminding you of her feeding time with
a 3 to 5 minute accuracy.
Don't know HOW she does it.
Funny kid.

We love her like crazy
but that is not my reason for this post today
but you will see soon why a
new piece of art has come
into our home.
Wonderful watercolor print by Etsy's Ron Krajewski |
About a month ago
I got a call from my friend Eric
who I have referred to as
"my personal shopper"
He was in an antique shop
in Chicago and spied this
It is HUGE
at four feet tall.
Hard to photograph it
because of the glass
but you can see why we love it!
It's Cada!
Had to share it.
It just kind of works here,
don't you agree?
Alison, this work of art is really a treasure and it is Cada!! Really a statement piece!!

This is a fabulous piece, and I love that it's so large!
ReplyDeleteI have a beagle who tells us exactly when to feed her - 4pm on the dot. I'm late now and she's staring me down. Craziest thing EVER!
That's interesting- we were in Illinois that year because our son graduated from Northwestern University and we were literally stepping around those cicadas in parking lots and everywhere. It really was an infestation! That's a great new portrait you picked up and it does have a perfect vibe for your home!
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful find! It is Dada indeed. And the riding attire is so perfect for your home!
ReplyDeleteWe have a Chocolate lab, Vic. Vic will be 5 this June , we rescued him as a pup from the shelter, and like Cada, he's a walking feeding time clock! Weird how they do that .
I paint, so I have painted his portrait. Our 8 month old grand baby just discovered the portrait , it sits at Vic level,(thus crawl level as well) and he's in luv with it.
Happy today!!
Hugs, Gee
What a fabulous new addition Alison!
