Screened Porches

screened porch

screened in porch?

I want a
screened in porch,
and
I want one
NOW!

But wait .....
you have
to say it in the
right voice.

Remember that bratty little girl
from the Willie Wonka movie?
"I want an Oompaloompa, Daddy,
and I want one NOW!"

screened in porch

LOL

That voice
came into
my head right
after I typed those
words out.
:D

Screened Porch!

When I was little
we had a long
screened in porch
and I remember the nights
when my mom would let us
 sleep out on the porch.
Warm breezes and crickets
chirping us to sleep.

Perfect.

Do you have/want one?
:)

  1. Yes, we have one -- it isn't fancy but we love it just the same -- no bugs! My grandmother had one with a big swing -- spent many a summer night on it; so when we bought this house 15 years ago, it was a must have. Hope you get one and NOW!!! Sally

  2. Oh yes! I sure do want one Alison. Nothing fancy. Just bug free and room for an old cot, a rocking chair or two, a cottage table with a lamp and geranium on it, a bench and some vintage things to decorate it with. I have all those things but I just don't have the screened porch! lol

  5. No have. Want. Real bad. My Mawmaw had a sleeping porch too and all of us cousins would have a ball sleeping out there in the Summer months. I miss that old house. :(

  6. Beautiful images Alison! We don't have one on this house but we added one on to our old house and then my dad added windows for us and it turned into a 3 season room which was great! I love a screened in porch because I'm not a big fan of bugs LOL!

  12. We had a screened porch at our last house, complete with a porch swing. Lots of good memories of swinging with my daughter and teaching her nursery rhymes. I have so missed that porch since we moved 17 years ago.

  13. Love this! Wish we had one too! My two favs here are the one with the green wall, and the Nantucket with the wash hanging outside. So evokative.

  18. Love these inspiration photos, Alison! We are converting our screen porch to year round ...although it will still have screened windows around the whole thing. The photo of the fireplace room, looks so perfect to me... might have to think about that one!

  19. We had a screened porch that I decorated with white wicker and aqua gingham curtains, with vintage quilt and tablecloth cushions and accents. Never took a single picture and have only memories since we moved three years ago. It was especially lovely in Fall and Spring.

  21. I love number 5!! I do not have one but always dreamed of it. Unfortunately it requires money, something I do not have!!
    I also like this one:

You can also look into the freestanding ones where it can have screening or screening with windows. Lots of styles:

  23. Alison, Those photos were gorgeous. I am almost ashamed to admit that I have a screened porch after that. But I will, I do.
I am trying to get it ready for prime time. I was going to photograph today but decided to take a day of rest.
Our screened porch is on the back of the house. We did have a swing on it but moved the swing to the front porch which is larger but not screened. We do enjoy both porches and are sitting on one or the other throughout three seasons.
I think you should have a screened porch and you should have it NOW!

  32. I have always wanted a screened porch. I like to sit outside at night by candlelight especially when there is a good thunderstorm going on! When we put out pool in we did the whole screen thing so now I have a HUGE one. Love it! Best room in the house! Go for it! Get one!
