Those are just gorgeous! I love peonies. Ours don't do very well any more. I think some of them are just old, but also there are walnut trees which have gotten larger and maybe there is too much shade. One of my plants made only two buds this year, and neither one opened! :(
Oh- I so agree! I would love to have them last twice as long as they do...or bloom in succession so that it didn't all happen at once. They are at the top of my list..right after Lilacs and Roses. xo Diana
I always pick a large bunch of peonies while they are in the soft "marshmallow" stage, and store them in the refrigerator for a few weeks until I want them to bloom. My sister has 120 peony bushes, so she is thrilled to have me pick hundreds!
Gorgeous! My absolute favorite flower....and so wish they could invent something to make them last longer, wouldn't that be amazing? Your pics are gorgeous!

Your peonies are gorgeous! Love that soft pink color! I know exactly what you mean. I'd love for ours to be able to bloom for longer, too. Lovely pics! Thanks for sharing.
Your camera lenses are magical :) and so is the photographer :). I have a vase with peonies just like yours on my night stand. Their fragrance is intoxicating :). Love them.
Alison, No whining allowed :-)...we can't grow them in our area (no frost) and the ones we can buy at Trader Joe's are $2.00 per stem. But you're right, I feel that way about some roses too, why won't keep their petals once brought inside for a longer period of time? Your vase and flowers are spectacular. Karen
I so agree, but i guess if we had them all the time we would not find the magic in them. The scent and the beauty, yes we wish would last longer....till next year.
One of my favorite flowers. They remind me of 1940's ruffled net prom dresses. My sister has a pink one and I thought it was the bomb. I am so glad you are still with me, life has been a challenge for a couple of weeks but is on it's way up now. Come visit soon. Happy summer. Richard
I think beautiful flowers were created for us to enjoy their beauty for a limited time...for if they lasted forever, we would take them for granted...So we enjoy them immensely during their "lifetime" and cannot wait for them to emerge again in their great glory.
Your photography is perfection...I love how you showcased them...gorgeous....
Have a wonderful day with your magnificent peonies!!
Your peonies are gorgeous. The dark edging is so dainty and delicate. I posted the last of mine today, too, after I saved them from the pouring rain. Linda
Alison, your peonies are gorgeous and I'm loving them. I wish they'd grow well in our area. I know they're supposed to grow as far south as zone 8, but I've never had any luck with them.

ReplyDeleteOh, my, but these are gorgeous. I'm asking: "Why can't they develop a peony that will grow in Zone 9. ;-)
